The following is a warm greeting from Sam Blackmore, this week's host in Holliston!
Welcome to the first soup run held in Holliston. Joe and I marked runs covering 3 miles, 5 miles, 7 miles and 10 miles. Check at the house for the correct colors to follow. The 5, 7 & 10 mile routes are all loops covering some nice quiet roads. The 10 mile loop will take you into Millis and Dover before returning to Holliston.
Overlook Drive is a horseshoe with both openings on Willowgate Rise. The first entry is within 100 feet of Central Street. The second opening is about a half mile into Willowgate. Parking on Overlook must be kept to the same side as the houses without pulling off of the street surface. You can also park on Willowgate near the second Overlook entrance and I am the 3rd house on the street (running shoes hanging on the mail box)
I plan to cook up a hearty chicken soup and a hearty veggie minestrone. I am looking forward to seeing you all.
Sam

Welcome to Bellingham, January 22
The following warm welcome is a message from Lynn regarding this Sunday's Soup Run. Enjoy!
Welcome to the first Soup Group in Bellingham!
We have marked some pretty beautiful routes for you to run. The colors are a bit different: 4 miles is green, 6 miles is orange, 10 miles is yellow and 12 miles is blue. There will be an 8 mile run this Sunday as well. Please see Joe as your group leader for this run. Please check in at the house to discuss routes, look at maps, and discuss modifications if you desire to run shorter. The routes are all loops and easy to follow, we just made maps in case there are questions.
Please park on the lake side of the street preferably after you have passed the house. (Look for the gazebo, that is our home.) We live on a dead end street. The neighbors are alright with parking.
We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

* Chi (pronounced chee and also spelled qi or ch'i) is energy - the life giving, vital energy that unites body, mind and spirit. A concept that has its origins in early Chinese Philosophy, chi has been likened to the yogic concept of prana and could also be thought of as life force.

Guest Speaker at this week's Soup Group run.
Craig Jones, one of only four Chi Running instructors in New England, will be a guest of the Soup Group this Sunday. At 9:15am, prior to the start of the 7 miler, Craig will give a 15 minute overview of the benefits of Chi Running including pre-running body looseners. He will then join us on the five miler with more tips during the run. Anyone interested in participating in the demonstration should meet at Joe Hamm's house (48 Highland St., Medway), at 9:10am in the downstairs workout studio.

" ...... I wanted to say to everyone in the club who hasn't done one of the soup runs to give it a try!
We did our first one last week - had been hesitant because we both are nursing injuries and going slow, but we went with Jill's walk-run group and did some running, some walking and it worked out fine. It is SO much easier to get out there in the cold when there is a group.
Love the soup idea, too. Nothing like hot soup on a cold day and the camaraderie of relaxing after a run with a bunch of running friends. I'm not sure whose idea it was to start these runs, but it's one of the best things the club has done."

The soup and fellowship that follow each run are as enjoyable as the run. This has been a great opportunity to pick up many tips from more experienced runners as well as a time to enjoy camaraderie with fellow runners. I could not say enough about the wonderful group of people I have had the great pleasure to meet through joining TVFR.
