SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT THIS WEEKS RUN!!
(Sunday December 4th)
From Joe Hamm

Soup Group special event :
This week the soup group will run to celebrate the life of club founder and friend Larry Olsen. He lived his life to run and to help others find the love of running. Larry died while running the first Sunday of December 2009. For those those of you who never  knew him, Google his name. It will make for some good reading! We will be running the Hopedale Parklands loop/loops. (2.9 miles per loop) . If you plan on running an even # of loops run clockwise, an odd # run counterclockwise. (We can sort that all out when we get there). In Larry's honor, we will be running without timing devices. Larry never wore a watch. I don't think he even owned one!  Larry shirts are encouraged .

Rich Allen is hosting and welcoming runners with hot coffee and soup from 10:30am at his home on 3 Ballou Road Hopedale. We will meet at the Hopedale Parklands, do our run, and then head over to Rich's place. Parking is on Hopedale St. near the intersection with Dutcher Street. (This is the same starting point as the summertime Monday night runs). The trails are very comfortable and non-technical, so non-seasoned trail runners should have no fear! For those who prefer roads, they can plan their own route or run Hiroshi's routes.

Don't forget to sign up to the right!!  ---->>

Sunday November 27th
The Soup Group heads to Whitinsville!

This past Sunday, the Soup Group met and ran from the office of Mike McMullin in Whitinsville. We were treated to yet another beautiful fall day!

Thanks to some great planning and route marking by Mike and his son Tom (who is currently the speed demon of the group!), we had several distances to choose from. We had a record turnout this week, with our number swelling to 15! Most runners did the 5 mile loop with a couple doing 7 miles and a few running the 3 mile route.

Afterwards, the group was treated by the McMullins to some hot homemade Mexican Chicken soup.

Here are a few scenes from the day!

Susan Cahill and Kristen Atchue looking WAY to happy for this point in the run!

 Most of this week's crew!

The Payoff! Mexican Chicken Soup from the McMullin family.

 Hanging out after the run.

" ...... I wanted to say to everyone in the club who hasn't done one of the soup runs to give it a try!
We did our first one last week - had been hesitant because we both are nursing injuries and going slow, but we went with Jill's walk-run group and did some running, some walking and it worked out fine. It is SO much easier to get out there in the cold when there is a group.
Love the soup idea, too. Nothing like hot soup on a cold day and the camaraderie of relaxing after a run with a bunch of running friends. I'm not sure whose idea it was to start these runs, but it's one of the best things the club has done."

The soup and fellowship that follow each run are as enjoyable as the run. This has been a great opportunity to pick up many tips from more experienced runners as well as a time to enjoy camaraderie with fellow runners. I could not say enough about the wonderful group of people I have had the great pleasure to meet through joining TVFR.
